LA Dances™ made its debut to the dance
community with a presentation of work by our founder Rebecca Yewell-Witjas,
at CID’s 19th World Congress on Dance Research in Larnaca, Cyprus, in
November 2005. The World Congress is the largest gathering of dance specialists
world-wide and participation is by invitation only.
| Our first project is called “White Light”,
performed to Johann Sebastian Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3. This piece is
centered on the happiest of human emotions – JOY. The choreography expresses the
joy of dancing, of music and ultimately of life itself. We offer this to both
the local and global community at a time when hopefulness and joy about living
comes at a premium. The U.S. premiere was held at the Smothers Brothers
Theater at Pepperdine University in late May 2005. |

We will continue to build our repertoire with works that: • study other emotions and aspects of human nature
• are created by other members of the company
• are created from the belief that ballet forms a universal technique which
allows the integration of other dance forms
